Women's Health

Women's health, made personal — in Northwest Ohio.

From perimenopause and menopause through post-surgical recovery and The Lady's Boutique, our pharmacy specializes in the hormonal, prescription, and post-surgical needs that don't fit neatly into a ten-minute appointment. Kieu Okuley has spent more than 25 years specializing in women's health, hormone replacement therapy, and clinical compounding — working alongside your prescriber, not around them.

Menopause & HRT

Menopause isn't a problem to be solved overnight.

For many women, perimenopause and menopause are a years-long shift in hormones, sleep, energy, mood, libido, and body composition. The right support usually isn't one appointment or one prescription — it's a plan that evolves with your labs and your symptoms over time.

Our compounding lab and Kieu Okuley's decades of expertise in women's health give us the tools to personalize that plan: bioidentical formulations matched to your labs, multiple delivery forms (cream, capsule, troche, pellet), and ongoing adjustments as your body changes.

  • Bioidentical hormone formulations customized to your labs and symptoms
  • Multiple delivery forms — topical creams, oral capsules, troches, hormone pellets
  • Symptom tracking and dose adjustments over time
  • Direct collaboration with your prescriber on the formulation
  • Compounded for patients with sensitivities, allergies, or unusual delivery needs

The Lady's Boutique

A private space for post-surgical care and mastectomy fittings.

The Lady's Boutique is our dedicated, private space for women navigating post-mastectomy fittings, compression garments, and post-surgical recovery products. Our fitters are certified in mastectomy fitting and trained to support you through what is often an emotionally significant moment in your recovery.

We schedule appointments to give you time, privacy, and one-on-one attention — never a rushed counter conversation. Many of the post-mastectomy products we carry are covered by insurance when prescribed by your provider, and our team handles the insurance side so you can focus on the fitting itself.

  • Post-mastectomy bra fittings by certified fitters
  • Breast forms, prostheses, and tissue expanders
  • Compression garments after lymph node surgery
  • Insurance billing handled by our team for covered items
  • Appointment-based for privacy and uninterrupted time

If you don't see your situation here, call us. Women's health is broader than any single list — the right starting point is usually a conversation, not a search engine.

How It Works

How a women's health consultation actually goes.

Every patient is different, but most consultations follow a similar arc — built around time, privacy, and a real conversation.

01

Initial conversation

We talk through what you're experiencing — sleep, mood, energy, cycle changes, libido, body composition — along with current medications and supplements. This is the longest part of the visit, and the most important.

02

Symptom and lab review

We review any labs you've already had (hormone panels, thyroid, cortisol, etc.) and discuss what they mean for your symptom picture. If additional testing makes sense, we coordinate with your prescriber.

03

Plan with your provider

Our pharmacists collaborate with your prescriber on a plan — formulation, dosing, delivery form, and a starting point. Your prescriber writes the prescription; we compound it in our Defiance lab.

04

Ongoing support

Follow-ups every few months as your body responds. Symptom changes, lab updates, and dose adjustments are normal — hormonal support isn't a one-and-done prescription. We stay in the loop with you and your prescriber.

Common Questions

Women's health questions, answered.

The questions we hear most often from patients new to compounded hormone therapy and women's health consultations.

What does a women's health consultation at Okuley's actually cover?
Consultations typically run 30 to 60 minutes and cover what you're experiencing day-to-day — sleep, energy, mood, cycle changes, libido, body composition — alongside any labs, current medications, supplements, and your prescriber's notes. The goal isn't to replace your provider; it's to bring pharmacy-specific expertise to the conversation so you and your provider can build a plan together. Kieu Okuley has spent more than 25 years specializing in women's health and clinical compounding.
Do you do hormone testing, or do I need to bring my own results?
Most patients bring labs ordered by their prescriber — typically a hormone panel (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, thyroid). We review those with you and discuss what they mean for symptom management and possible compounded formulations. For some patients, salivary hormone testing is appropriate as an addition to blood work; we can discuss that during your consultation and coordinate as needed.
What's the difference between BHRT (bioidentical) and traditional HRT?
Both deliver hormones; the difference is the molecular structure. Bioidentical hormones (BHRT) are structurally identical to the hormones your body produces — typically derived from plant sources and then customized in dose, ratio, and delivery form (cream, capsule, troche, pellet) for the individual patient. Traditional HRT uses commercially manufactured hormones at standard doses. Many patients want BHRT specifically because it can be tailored to their labs and symptoms rather than fitting them into an off-the-shelf dose. Both have a place; your prescriber and our pharmacists can help you understand which approach fits your situation.
Does insurance cover hormone replacement therapy?
Coverage varies by plan and by formulation. Commercial HRT (FDA-approved manufactured products) is typically covered like any other prescription. Compounded BHRT is sometimes covered, sometimes covered with prior authorization, and sometimes not covered at all. We verify your coverage before we fill, and we'll always quote cash-pay pricing upfront so there are no surprises at pickup. Many compounded prescriptions are surprisingly affordable on cash.
Do I need a referral from my doctor to see you?
No referral is needed for a consultation — anyone can schedule one. For prescription compounded medications, you'll need a prescription from a licensed prescriber (MD, DO, NP, PA). If you don't have a prescriber familiar with BHRT and you'd like one, we can suggest local clinicians we work with regularly. We don't replace your prescriber; we work alongside them.
What is The Lady's Boutique, and how do appointments work?
The Lady's Boutique is our dedicated, private space for mastectomy fittings, compression garments, and post-surgical care products. Our fitters are certified in mastectomy fitting and trained to support women through what is often an emotionally significant moment in their recovery. Appointments are scheduled to give you time, privacy, and one-on-one attention — and many post-mastectomy products are covered by insurance when prescribed by your provider. Call us to schedule.
What symptoms do patients typically come to you about?
The most common ones are hot flashes and night sweats, sleep disruption, mood and emotional changes, decreased libido or vaginal dryness, shifts in weight or body composition, low energy, and difficulty with focus or memory. Patients also come for irregular or heavy cycles, PMS and PMDD support, hormonal acne, post-surgical hormonal changes, and postpartum hormone questions. Whether hormone therapy or compounded formulations are right for you depends on your individual health picture and your prescriber's judgment — we're one piece of that conversation, not the whole answer.
