Can I transfer my prescriptions to Okuley's from another pharmacy?+
Yes. Transferring takes about 60 seconds on your end. Submit your name, date of birth, and current pharmacy through our transfer form (or call any of our three locations), and we'll handle the call to your old pharmacy, the insurance coordination, and your refill schedule. Most patients are set up the same day or next business day.
Does Okuley's compound medications that other pharmacies can't?+
Almost certainly, yes. Our compounding lab in Defiance has prepared custom formulations since 2000, and we've been a PCCA member pharmacy since 1998. We routinely prepare hormone replacement therapy, bioidentical hormones, thyroid (T3/T4) blends, low-dose naltrexone, transdermal pain creams, pediatric flavorings, veterinary medications, and drugs that have been discontinued by manufacturers. If you're not sure whether something can be compounded, call us — we'll tell you.
What insurance does Okuley's accept?+
We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare Part D and Medicaid. Coverage for compounded medications and durable medical equipment varies by plan — call your location and we'll verify coverage before we fill. Many compounded medications are also affordable on a cash basis when insurance doesn't cover them.
What's the difference between Okuley's and a chain pharmacy?+
Three things, mostly. First, our compounding lab — when your prescriber writes for something custom, we make it in-house instead of outsourcing or saying no. Second, our consultation model — pharmacists sit down with you to review your full medication picture, not just hand you a bag. Third, our continuity — you'll talk to the same pharmacists every time, and they'll learn your name, your medications, and your story.
Do you ship medications, or do I have to pick up in person?+
We offer local delivery to patients in Defiance, Paulding, Putnam, and surrounding counties. For patients farther out, we can mail prescriptions and DME within reasonable shipping distances. Compounded medications and refrigerated items have additional shipping considerations — call us to discuss options for your specific situation.
How do I schedule a wellness consultation?+
Call any of our three locations or submit a consultation request through our contact form. Consultations are typically 30–60 minutes depending on what you're bringing — current medications, lab work, symptom questions, hormone evaluations, or general wellness goals. Some specialized assessments (for example, comprehensive medication therapy reviews) may have a fee that we'll discuss upfront.
