How do I set up Dispill packaging?+
Call any of our three locations and ask about Dispill packaging. We'll review your current medication list, sort which medications fit the blister cards, and prepare your first card — usually within one to two weeks of setup. If you're transferring from another pharmacy, we'll handle the prescription transfers as part of the same conversation.
How does medication synchronization actually work?+
We coordinate all your prescriptions to refill on the same day each month — a day that works for your schedule. The first cycle involves some adjustment to align all your refills (you might get partial refills on a few medications to get them in sync), but after that, you have one consolidated pickup day each month. One trip, one pickup, one phone call if needed.
Do you take over coordination with my doctor, or do I still manage that?+
You stay in control of your healthcare decisions. We act as a coordination point — if we notice an interaction concern, a duplicate therapy, or a simplification opportunity, we'll discuss it with you first and then communicate with your provider with your permission. We don't change anything without your knowledge.
Can my family member call about my medications?+
Yes, with your written permission via a HIPAA release. We can speak with designated family members about refill timing, packaging questions, and general medication coordination. Anything that crosses into protected medical information requires explicit authorization, which we can set up at any of our locations.
Can I keep some medications in regular bottles and put others in Dispill?+
Yes. Some patients use Dispill for their daily oral medications and keep PRN medications (taken as needed) in regular bottles. Insulin, inhalers, eye drops, and topical medications stay in their original packaging too. We'll work out what makes sense for your regimen.
What happens when my doctor changes one of my medications?+
You or your provider call us with the change, and the next Dispill cycle reflects the new prescription. We don't wait for the old supply to run out — we work with you to coordinate the transition so you're never confused about which pack to use. If a medication is being stopped urgently, we can replace your current card mid-cycle.
Do you work with nursing homes and assisted living facilities?+
Yes. We've provided unit-dose packaging, MAR reporting, controlled substance management, and on-call pharmacist support for regional facilities since 1995. If you're a facility administrator looking for a pharmacy partner, call (419) 784-4800 to discuss your needs and we'll set up a meeting.
How long does a comprehensive medication review take?+
Typically 30–45 minutes for the initial review, depending on how many medications you're on and how complex your situation is. Most patients find it worth the time — it's often the first detailed conversation they've had about their full medication list in years.
