What We Offer

Vaccines available at Okuley's pharmacies.

We stock the most common adult and adolescent vaccines year-round, plus seasonal flu and COVID formulations as they become available. Most are administered same-day for walk-in patients.

Influenza (Flu)

Annually for ages 6 months and up

Seasonal — typically available August through March. We stock both standard formulations and high-dose options for adults 65+.

COVID-19

Per current CDC guidance

Current FDA-approved strain formulation. Updated annually. We typically carry adult formulations, with pediatric versions seasonally as available.

Shingles (Shingrix)

Adults 50+ (or 19+ if immunocompromised)

Two-dose series, given 2–6 months apart. We schedule your follow-up dose at your first visit so you don't have to remember.

Pneumonia

Adults 65+, or younger with certain conditions

Prevnar 20 and Pneumovax 23 are both available depending on CDC recommendations for your situation. We coordinate the right product with your medical history.

Tdap / Td

Tdap every 10 years; Td for boosters as needed

Important for pregnant women (each pregnancy) and for adults around newborns. Catch-up doses available.

Travel, Hepatitis & Other Routine Vaccines

As prescribed or per CDC guidelines

Hepatitis A and B, HPV (Gardasil 9), MMR, meningitis, and select travel vaccines available — most with advance notice. Call ahead to verify stock and timing for your trip.

By Life Stage

Recommendations by age and situation.

Vaccine recommendations vary based on age, health status, occupation, and travel plans. Here's the short version — if you're unsure what you need, our pharmacists can review your immunization record and current CDC recommendations with you.

Adults 19–49

Annual flu vaccine, COVID per current guidance, Tdap booster every 10 years, HPV if not previously vaccinated (through age 45), and Hepatitis A/B if at risk. Consider MMR if missing childhood doses, especially before international travel.

Adults 50+

Annual flu (consider high-dose for ages 65+), COVID per current guidance, Shingrix two-dose series (starting at age 50), and Tdap boosters. Pneumonia vaccines (Prevnar 20 and/or Pneumovax 23) recommended starting at age 65, or earlier for certain conditions.

Pregnant women

Tdap during each pregnancy (preferred between weeks 27 and 36) to protect newborns from pertussis. Flu vaccine recommended at any point in pregnancy during flu season. COVID per current OB/GYN guidance.

Teens & young adults

HPV (Gardasil 9) — typically two or three doses depending on starting age, recommended through age 26 with catch-up available through 45. Meningitis vaccines for college-bound students. Tdap booster around age 11–12.

Coming In

Walk in, or call ahead.

For most adult vaccines, walk-ins are welcome during pharmacy hours. Some vaccines benefit from a quick phone call so we can have the right dose ready and reduce your wait time.

What to bring

Your insurance card (or be prepared to pay cash), a photo ID, and — if you have it — a record of your previous vaccinations. We can pull most of your vaccination history through Ohio's immunization registry if needed.

Insurance & cost

Most insurance plans (Medicare Part B, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and most commercial plans) cover preventive vaccines at no cost to you. We verify coverage and handle the billing directly. For uninsured patients, we offer cash-pay pricing on most vaccines — call for current pricing.

How long it takes

A typical vaccination visit takes about 15 minutes — paperwork, the shot itself, and a short observation period afterward. Most patients are out within 20 minutes. For multi-dose series, we schedule the follow-up at your first visit.

Common Questions

Vaccine questions, answered.

What patients ask most often when they call or come in for a vaccine.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in?
For most adult vaccines — flu, COVID, shingles, pneumonia, Tdap — walk-ins are welcome during pharmacy hours. For travel vaccines and less common immunizations, we recommend calling ahead so we can verify the vaccine is in stock and prepared. The drive-through at our Paulding location is not used for vaccinations — please come inside for any immunization.
Will my insurance cover this?
Most insurance plans cover preventive adult vaccines (flu, COVID, shingles for 50+, pneumonia for 65+, Tdap) at no cost to you. Medicare Part B covers most adult vaccines directly. Some vaccines — travel vaccines especially, or certain combinations — may have out-of-pocket costs depending on your plan. We verify coverage before administering, so no surprise bills.
Can I get multiple vaccines at the same visit?
Yes, in most cases. Many adult vaccines can safely be administered together — one in each arm, for example. Our pharmacist will review your immunization needs and the current CDC guidance, then administer what's safely combinable in a single visit. If timing requires separate visits, we schedule the follow-up before you leave.
Do you give vaccines to children?
We administer vaccines to patients age 18 and up at our pharmacies. Some adolescent vaccines (HPV, Tdap booster) can also be administered starting around age 12–14 depending on the vaccine and Ohio pharmacist scope of practice. For routine childhood immunizations, please see your pediatrician — we work alongside them, not in place of them.
Do you do travel vaccines?
We carry several common travel vaccines including Hepatitis A and B. For other travel vaccines (typhoid, yellow fever, etc.), call ahead — some are available with advance notice, and a few specialized vaccines may require a dedicated travel medicine clinic. Plan ahead: many travel vaccines require multiple doses over weeks before your trip.
What if I'm not sure what vaccines I've already had?
Bring whatever records you have, and we can pull most of your Ohio immunization history through the state registry. We'll review what you have and identify gaps based on current CDC recommendations — it's part of every vaccine visit when needed.
Can I get a Tdap shot before being around a newborn?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it for grandparents, family members, and caregivers planning to be around a new baby. Pertussis (whooping cough) is dangerous for infants too young to be vaccinated themselves. Tdap is recommended every 10 years for adults regardless of newborn exposure.
